Does  Everyone who lives in Monmouth County NJ look like a cast member from Jersey Shore?

Do we get covered in snow every single year?

Do we have any good seafood here in Monmouth County?

Are the beaches in New Jersey trash?

Does EVERYONE in Monmouth County do the fist pump?

I’m going to answer all these questions and more because today I’m unboxing Monmouth County, New Jersey!

Welcome to Monmouth County New Jersey. Monmouth County has so many towns with beaches right along the Atlantic Ocean.  In Fact, there are 20 towns right here with access to gorgeous beaches!  Truth be told the ocean, the beaches, the Jersey Shore are some of the main reasons I chose to stay here in Monmouth County. Okay Okay, my family lives here too.  But honestly, there is nothing a summer down the Jersey Shore!

Belmar Bridge

Being able to live right near the beach is very appealing to many who live in Monmouth County.

What about everyone looking like they stepped right off the set of the Jersey Shore?  Does everyone here look like Snookie or the situation?  Ewww this is a tricky one.  The answer is, well I mean.  Okay Okay so yes there are a few people scattered around the area that tends to have that “jersey look”.  But the majority of us, we just look like normal everyday people, kinda.

Clubs and bars are HUGE here, especially during the summer months, so yeah, I guess you may encounter a few people who choose to really take that Jersey-style look to the next level.

What about the cost of living?  Is it expensive to live in Monmouth County?  People are moving to Monmouth County in droves, I know this because I’m a realtor and my main focus is helping people looking to relocate into and well sometimes out of the Monmouth County area.  We have seen such large amounts of people moving to the area since 2020.  I’d love to say there were a variety of reasons, and well I’m sure there are the two top reasons I am seeing, Covid and people looking for more room to spread out and maybe start their families.  Yes we have much more space than New York City, and our prices whoa, well compared to New York are lower.  I am working with a few families who are looking to move out of Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn.  Now people all around the world would give just about anything to own a piece of real estate in New York City, but it is insanely expensive.  These clients are looking to finally own home vs paying rent in New York for so many years.

I used to live right outside of Manhattan in Hoboken, and between the insanely high cost of living and entertainment, it was out of control.  But boy of boy was it fun!

As of December 2021 the average price here in Monmouth County for a single-family home was roughly around $800,000 but remember you are taking into account all the different towns in Monmouth County.   Let me break it down a bit further for you with a few examples of specific towns:

Marlboro                 Average sold price in Dec was $720,000

Hazlet                     Average sold price in Dec was $520,000

Freehold Township      Average sold price in Dec was $840,000

Matawan Average sold price in Dec was $470,000

Keep in Mind Monmouth County has 50 different towns so pricing can be quite different from one location to the next, especially if you are close to the beach!

Prices have definitely gone up the last year and a half. But compared to city living, we are pretty affordable.

Do we get covered in snow each year?  I mean listen we are on the East Coast and we are located up North so yes we do get snow.  But how often and how much? That depends year to year. There are some winters where we get “dumped on” with the white stuff and then there are some years we barely see any snow at all.  I personally like a snowstorm every once in a while.  I love snuggling up under a warm blanket in front of a fire.

Now let’s talk about the whole you can’t get good seafood in New Jersey?  Remember Monmouth County is located right near the beach.  I’m not going to spend too much time on this one.  You are just going to have to trust me.  Monmouth County has PLENTY of amazing restaurants that serve up fantastic seafood.  There are fabulous restaurants located all along the Jersey Shore and not only is the food incredible.  The views are spectacular too!

Now let’s get to the good stuff.  What is there to do here in Monmouth County.  I wouldn’t exactly say Monmouth County is necessarily a tourist destination.  But during the summer months, we see our fair share of visitors!  Not only because of the beach, well I mean the beach is probably the main reason.  But there are some really fun things to do here.

Monmouth County is located on the coast of central New Jersey, within the New York metropolitan area, and we are located along the northern half of the Jersey Shore.

So obviously we know you spend the summer months along the Jersey Shore.  But we offer many other things to do as well.  You can visit an alpaca farm in Wall Township.   You can check out the historic village at Allaire.  It’s pretty amazing to take a step back in time.  You can spend a few hours or a full day out on a boat fishing that leaves right from the Belmar Marina.  Why not spend a day at Monmouth Park watching the many races, or take advantage of one of the INCREDIBLE parks in the Monmouth County Park System.

We have some great small towns to explore like Red Bank, and Downtown Freehold, or why not check out one of our many malls or outlet centers.  You definitely should check out the Gateway National Recreation Area Sandy Hook and don’t forget about the PNC Bank Art Center.  They have some amazing concerts each year.  I even saw Mr 305 there last summer!  Hit the shops at Pier Village, or explore downtown Keyport or Asbury Park, and you must check out the Stone Pony.  Do you know who has played there many times before? Did you know that we have over 10 wineries right here in Monmouth County and over 15 breweries?  Honestly, I could go on and on about this amazing area.  I do make videos all year long highlighting things to do and places to check out and I talk all about the Real Estate Market, so you may want to check back often.

If you are considering moving to the Monmouth County area you may want to check out my entire playlist dedicated to life here in Monmouth County.  There’s a pretty funny one in there all about understanding “New Jersey Slang”, because we do have our own language here.

Oh and regarding the fist pump? DOES EVERYONE HERE IN NJ REALLY DO THE FIST PUMP? Well for the answer to that one, you’ll have to watch my video to find out!
