If you’ve recently learned that New Jersey produces wine and are exploring visiting vineyards to sample some for yourself but aren’t sure where to start, you’ve come to the perfect spot. Throughout the year, most vineyards provide wine tasting tours and a variety of special events such as festivals, concerts, grape-crushing celebrations, and holiday-themed celebrations.

Check the nearby state wineries where your favorite wines are produced, and sample the local season on our land. The wineries listed below provide tours and samples of their picturesque scenery and fragrant tastes. Wineries in New Jersey are a must-see for wine enthusiasts and sommeliers alike.

4 JG’s

As a very new vineyard (established in 2002), 4 JG’s has already won a gold medal for its Chambourcin Riserva at the 2004 New Jersey Wine Competition. Another medal was awarded to the wine in the 2018 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition for the same bottle of wine as well.

The winery is situated in the picturesque Colts Neck, New Jersey farmlands. Many activities are scheduled throughout the week, so you may take in the surroundings or pay a visit when it’s convenient for you. Weekends are when the winery is open from May through December.

Fox Hollow Vineyards

Fox Hollow Vineyards, owned and run by the Casolas, a long-established agricultural family in Monmouth County, is one of New Jersey’s newest wineries.

Fox Hollow first opened its doors to the public in 2016. The winery is presently selling Chardonnay and Riesling from 2014, Traminette 2014, Chambourcin 2014, Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, Field Master Mix 2013, a Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc blend, and Autumn Harvest 2013, a dessert wine.

A renovated terrace and fire pits create a relaxing and wine-tasting environment. Fox Hollow has recently begun to host events such as paint-and-sip nights and chocolate and wine pairings.

Cream Ridge Winery

Cream Ridge Winery is one of the renowned wineries in NJ. It was founded by Tom and Joan Amabile in 1988. The winery has been creating handcrafted, small-batch wines. Tim and Jackie Schlitzer are the current managers.

Cream Ridge wines are exclusively available for purchase at the winery and at farmers’ markets. Among the wines are an award-winning Chambourcin and 99 Rows, a trademark mix, as well as fruit wines like AlmondBerry.

Tours and tastings are provided in their schedule weekly.

Laurita Winery

Laurita Winery first opened its doors in 2008. The vineyard has been an attraction not just for its wine tastings and complimentary tours but also for the numerous paid entertainment activities hosted on the premises, as well as its bed-and-breakfast and Branches Catering’s gourmet market.

The owners Randy Johnson and Ray Shea called their winery “Laurita” after the first names of their moms, Laura and Rita, respectively. They focus on sustainability in their operations, utilizing reusable and recyclable materials to create the winery and solar panels to power their appliances.

Working Dog Winery

Working Dog Winery was started in 2001 by a circle of friends who believed it was worth a shot.  After 16 years, this vineyard in the Robbinsville-East Windsor region has become a favorite meeting location for live entertainment, holiday celebrations, and 5K races. There will also be a lot of wine sampling!

Among the reds are Cabernet Franc, Chambourcin, Marechal Foch, and Sangiovese. Riesling, Chardonnay, Viognier, and Traminette are examples of white wines. Blueberry Wine, produced from fresh Jersey blueberries from Hammonton, is one of the sweet wines available.

Tomasello Winery

After Prohibition, Frank Tomasello became the first to receive a winery license in the country, establishing Tomasello Winery, New Jersey’s biggest winery, in 1933. Over the following 80 years, winemaking was passed down through the Tomasello family. Today, the company makes more than 50 distinct wines sold at one of its ten various sites. Reservations are highly recommended, especially on weekends, since their tasting room in Hammonton is presently only running at 25% capacity.

A total of nine more Tomasello Winery sites may be found across the state.

These vineyards are the best in New Jersey for everyone who wishes to take in the state’s natural beauty, broaden their taste, or relax while being spoiled! Hoard wines now, but make sure to store the bottles properly!
