In this study, we’re checking out how different places in the U.S. affect how happy people feel.  Did you know there is a list of the Happiest States in America? I had NO IDEA! Until now.

In 2023, rising challenges like high inflation stress out over 83% of adults, making happiness a precious commodity. Coping with these difficulties involves finding joy in connections, activities, and yes, where you live. Research tells us that location matters for happiness, and it’s not just about money. Despite being wealthy, the U.S. only ranks 16th in global happiness.

Not every state in the U.S. has the same happiness vibe. This study dives into the details, checking out which states are happiness hotspots. So let’s discover together where the happiest people in America live.

WalletHub explores how environmental factors relate to overall well-being. Good economic, emotional, physical, and social health are crucial for a fulfilling life. To find where these factors align best, they analyzed 50 states using 30 metrics, from depression rates to income growth. Stick around and let’s find out where in America people seem to be “smiling” the most.  

Massachusetts

Massachusetts ranked 16th in the work environment, 48th in community and environment, and 4th in emotional and physical well-being.

Delaware ranked 29th in the work environment, 6th in community and environment, and 11th in emotional and physical well-being.

Coming in at number 10 is Nebraska.  Nebraska ranked 7th in the work environment, 25th in community and environment, and 12th in emotional and physical well-being.

Idaho

Idaho ranked 6th in the work environment, 2nd in community and environment, and 30th in emotional and physical well-being.

Florida ranked 21st in the work environment, 44th  in community and environment, and 2nd in emotional and physical well-being.

California ranked 34th  in the work environment, 10th  in community and environment and 5th in emotional and physical well-being.

Connecticut ranked 32nd  in the work environment, 8th  in community and environment, and 6th in emotional and physical well-being.

New Jersey

New Jersey ranked 14th in work environment, 29th  in community and environment, and 3rd in emotional and physical well-being. Um yeah.

Maryland

Coming in at number 3.  You’ll never guess.  It’s Maryland.  Interesting.  Maryland ranked 4th  in the work environment, 5th  in community and environment, and 8th  in emotional and physical well-being.

Well, there are 2 more.  Can you guess what they are? 

Coming in at number 2 is Hawaii.  I mean that to me is a no-brainer.   Hawaii ranked 25th in the work environment,30th  in community and environment, and number 1  in emotional and physical well being.  I mean my emotional well-being would be spectacular if I woke up every morning in Hawaii.  Wouldn’t yours?

Well, there is only 1 more state left to claim the spot of the Happiest State to Live in America.  Drumroll Please….. Any guesses?  I would have NEVER guessed this one.  The happiest place to call home in the USA is Utah!   Utah ranked 1st in work environment,  1st  in community and environment, and number 16th  in emotional and physical well-being.   Maybe I need to take a trip out to Utah.  It was never even on my bucket list, but that may have changed.  

Utah, known as the Beehive State, emerges as the epitome of happiness in the United States, and its allure lies in a myriad of reasons.
