So right now we are coming off a crazy time of being homebound for over 3 months!  Believe it or not our furry little friends are feeling a bit cooped up right now too.  Finally after weeks and weeks, All Monmouth County, all dog parks are Open and waiting for all their furry little friends to come back and play!  There are a TON of dog parks in Monmouth County, but this week i’m here to highlight 3 parks that my very own Sadie Mae loves to Enjoy! So let’s get started.

1. Thompson Dog Park

The 1.5 acre off-leash area located in Lincroft, consists of a 1¼-acre area for dogs over 35 lbs and a  ¼-acre “small dog area” for dogs that weigh 35 lbs or less.  This park is part of the Monmouth County Park System.  The park is open 7 days a week from 8:00am til dusk.  There are some rules that MUST be followed at the park:

In order to use the facility, puppies must be at least 4 months old, and dogs 6 months or older must be spayed or neutered

All dogs must be up to date with vaccinations and wear a collar with a license.

Each owner may bring up to 2 dogs, must remain with the dogs(s) and should carry a leash for each animal.

Children under the age of 8 are not permitted in the off-leash areas, and all youngsters should be closely supervised by an adult.

There is a limit of 20 dogs and 25 owners inside each fenced area at any one time.

2. 8TH Ave Dog Park / Beach

Located in Asbury Park From October 1st through May 15th, dogs are allowed on the Boardwalk and on the 8th Avenue Dog Beach all day. During the summer, dogs are welcome between the hours of 6pm – 8:30am. For your safety and pleasure, ONLY licensed non-aggressive dogs with adult supervision are permitted on the Dog Beach.  The Asbury Park Commerce asks that:

  • Clean up after your dog (use waste station)
  • Observe posted boundaries
  • Control unleashed dogs at all times
  • Female canines in heat not permitted

3. Wolfhill Recreation Area

Wolf Hill is also home to one of two off leash dog areas operated by the Monmouth County Park System. This 4-acre area combines an area for dogs of all sizes as well as an area for dogs weighing 35 lbs. or less. Dog waste bags and garbage cans can be found in both dog areas and there are portable toilets near the parking lot. At present, there is no water source available at the site for dogs and owners. The park is open 7 days a week from 8:00am til dusk.  This park is also part of the Monmouth County Park System so the same rules apply here as they do at Thompson Park.

A complete list of rules and regulations for the park can be found here.
