Belmar is a beautiful community blessed with small town charm, rural beauty, and a rich community life with an abundance of recreational activities enjoyed by visitors and residents alike.

The Borough of Belmar’s beaches and boardwalk are open on a year-round basis. During the summer we invite you to swim, sun, fish, surf, boogie board, and kayak on our clean, safe, sandy white beaches and to stroll on our beautifully landscaped boardwalks.

Belmar is a particularly HOT SPOT during the 🏖️ summer 🏖️ months.  Many teen aged children choose Belmar as their “beach of choice”.  There are many quick and easy dining options directly across from the boards and this does tend to draw the younger crowds.  Dunkin Donuts and 7 – 11 are located steps from the sand, along with newer popular places to grab a snack like Playa Bowls and Coney Waffle.  The younger teens tend to walk the boards and Ocean Ave in the summer and many people pick this central beach location to meet up with friends.   You can take a quick peek here for all the choices of quick bites!

The past few years Belmar has really made some wonderful changes to the small town.  Many homes were renovated from top to bottom and Main Street saw the arrival of many fabulous restaurants and places to shop!  If you stroll downtown after the sun sets in the warmer months you will see a fabulous crowd of people walking along the main street as well as ocean blvd!

Downtown Belmar offers numerous culinary options, including authentic Mexican, Cajun, Italian and old-fashioned American fare, and many restaurants offer sidewalk tables for people watching and there are many newer bars that have just joined the wonderful Belmar scene.  Don’t forget to grab ice cream at Strollos located at 500 Main Street.  This family-owned counter serve offers Italian ices, ice cream & fro-yo and trust me, it’s worth the long lines!

In the warm months there is ALWAYS something going on downtown. Beautifully restored classic automobiles are abundant on Cruise Nights, fresh New Jersey fruits and vegetables are available at the weekly Farmers Market. The Plaza hosts live entertainment weekly and retail merchants offer a wide variety of products.  There are also festivals though out the summer.  One of the most popular events all summer is the fantastic  SEAFOOD FESTIVAL.

Downtown Belmar is a “must visit” if you are spending a few days at the Jersey Shore or Just passing through!

Let’s Talk About the Beach

If you are looking for a gorgeous beach that is packed and I mean “packed” with local area teens during the summer, Belmar is the place for you.  This hotspot is popular with so many of the younger clientele due to it’s location and small businesses that surround it.  Playa Bowls, Coney Waffle, 7-11 and Dunkin are just a few.  On any given summer day you will see hundreds of folks lining the boards and beaches enjoy the summer weather.

Belmar is super convenient for  parents to take their children to the beach parks, and there is one located at about every 5 beaches.

In addition to this series of colorful and fun beach playgrounds every few blocks, several of our beaches are devoted to activities like boogie boarding, kayaking and surfing. We even offer a surf camp at 3rd Avenue Beach, where kids of all ages can take surfing lessons. For older beachgoers who prefer dry land activities, several of our beaches are equipped with poles for volleyball nets. And even if you don’t have your own equipment, it’s usually easy to join a game.

Belmar does require beach badges after the age of 16.  Seasonal badges are $70.00 Senior Citizen badges are $30 and disabled persons are $30.  You can always purchase a daily badge for $9.00
